Pound for pound, Sixto is easily one of the best landscapers around, and has over 10 years in the industry. Sixto is our "utility" foreman - whatever the need, he gets it done and done well. Dwarf fountain grass is his favorite plant. He loves the way the colored plumes arch above the foliage and the backdrop it provides for perennials. If you want to make Sixto's day, offer him his favorite drink - Horchata, made with rice, almonds, cinnamon, water, sugar and vanilla. Sixto calls it "heaven in a cup".
Although relatively new to Laurel Oak, joining us in 2012, Gene “Pops” Marconi has over 30 years in many different facets of the construction and landscaping industry. In his position as foreman, Gene leads multiple crews and is our most experienced “plant guy”. Gene’s favorite saying is “dig a five dollar hole for a fifty cent plant” – as he is a strong advocate for ensuring any plants he installs on a job go into the proper soil, with appropriate fertilizer and amendments. Gene is an avid fisherman and spends much of his free time exploring our local bays and rivers by kayak – searching for that perfect fishing spot. To celebrate a good day on the water, Gene enjoys a steak from The Library II.
